The CAREX safe seat toilet raiser consists of:
1 The basic seat.
2 A front clamp with an adjusting tool.
3 Two side clamps with integral adjusting knobs.
The raiser adds a little more than 4 inches of height to the toilet. The opening is very slightly smaller than the standard seat and thus does not interfere with the necessary toilet user functions.
The additional height greatly reduced the physical and emotional stress of using the toilet.
It takes about 5 minutes to assemble or take apart he seat assembly.
No extra tools are required.
Once assembled the seat can be installed or removed by adjusting the side clamp knobs. This takes about two minutes.
When properly installed I found the seat to be very stable. I used it in two different modes: 1) sliding to and from my wheelchair:, 2) Sitting down and standing up.
I recently used it on an 11 day vacation. I put it on and off at least once a day. It is easily cleanable using a premoistened antiseptic towlette. I dissembled it and repacked it in the original box when going to and from hotels.
The only drawback is that there are no spare parts available. It would be nice to pack extra clamps so that if one got lost or possibly broken, the set would still be useable.
