Compression Socks

Compression socks are everywhere these days as they are increasingly being used for a number of different applications.

Also, perhaps less commonly known as support hose, "compression" socks and clothing in general is most widely used by injured athletes and people who suffer from conditions like DVT, (Deep Vein Thrombosis) Edema, Phlebitis and simple poor blood circulation.

Compression stockings are instrumental in stopping the progression of venous disorders. They are elastic garments that facilitate healthy blood flow. The added pressure of the compression sock or garment forces blood movement to the heart, discouraging blood pooling in the lower legs, ankles and feet.

Some people, who are not athletes, and are in relatively good health will opt to wear compression socks simply to aid circulation while exercising.

Also, people who travel great distances have increasingly taken to wearing compression in recent years. The pool of knowledge surrounding the topic of compression has expanded so greatly, that often compression clothing is worn by frequent long-distance flyers as a preventative measure. The growing demand of compression attire for travelers has prompted some companies to begin targeting marketing efforts toward this particular demographic.
