Shortwave Diathermy

Diathermy refers to the process in which heat is electrically induced using electromagnetic fields. Typically this is done with two condenser plates situated on each side of the body part being treated or by an induction coil which is pliable and can wrap around the part being treated. As the high frequency, shortwaved electromagnetic waves travel through the body, they generate heat. This type of therapy is particular good with treating deep muscles and joints that are protected by thicker tissues.
