This is to replace the exact same unit I have owned since the late 1980s. I used the original unit daily for over 10 years and avoided surgery on a severely herniated disc. The original unit was purchased through my doctor and I would caution all not to self prescribe with this tool. You do need medical advice on weight, direction and duration or you can do more harm than good. A very durable, simple to use product, even when you are in severe pain.
