The transmitters run off of one 9-volt battery and you can monitor up to four zones with additional transmitters.

The Dakota Alert Wireless 3000 Motion Alert receiver plugs into any standard outlet and can be mounted on the wall or set on a table. One of four different tones can be played when the transmitter activates the receiver, and each receiver has a volume control.
