Active Forever Oxygen Therapy Starter Kit

EverGo Portable Oxygen Concentrator

The Respironics EverGo is an FAA approved portable oxygen concentrator developed by a trusted name in oxygen therapy equipment. Able to provide more oxygen in pulse settings per minute than any other portable oxygen concentrator, the Respironics EverGo features a compact, lightweight design and long battery life, making it the ideal oxygen concentrator for those who like to travel.

If you are an active traveler, the Respironics EverGo Portable Oxygen Concentrator is a great way to allow you to maintain your active lifestyle with oxygen therapy. Ideal for air travel, this unit features dual rechargeable batteries that provide 8 hours of battery life depending on the oxygen setting.

Respironics EverGo

The pulse settings of the Ever Go simulates the equivalent measure in liters per minute of oxygen from a continuous flow oxygen machine (a setting of 1.5 on the Respironics is the same as 1.5 liters of oxygen per minute on a continuous flow device), but delivers the oxygen only when the patient breathes to avoid waste. By using the Respironics EverGo, patients and caregivers save money on costly oxygen tank delivery.

The Respironics EverGo weighs less than ten pounds and includes a stylish, black carry bag with shoulder strap that is designed to look like an ordinary piece of carry-on luggage. The easy-to-use touch screen controls enable you to adjust the pulse settings on the EverGo, while the washable particle filter is easily accessible for cleaning. Your Portable Oxygen Concentrator can be charged using a wall outlet (AC) or the automobile charger (DC) and can be used while the concentrator is charging. Best of all, with the included mobile cart the Respironics EverGo can be used around the house when not traveling - for homecare providers and end users, this unit eliminates the need for, and high cost of, home oxygen delivery. Buy your Respironics EverGo from ActiveForever.com today!

What are the benefits of Oxygen Therapy with the Respironics Evergo?

Numerous studies have shown that COPD patients who use supplemental oxygen live longer and have more active lives than individuals not receiving oxygen. Oxygen therapy is based on the premise that all human cells require sufficient levels of oxygen to function properly. Exercise is often easier for individuals receiving supplemental oxygen because more oxygen is getting to the muscles. Receiving oxygen from machines like the EverGo also helps to reverse the long-term effects of oxygen deficiency on the heart and reduce sleep disruption while also improving concentration and memory levels. Ask your doctor if oxygen therapy and the Respironics EverGo are right for you

Oxygen Therapy

Do I need a doctor’s prescription to receive oxygen therapy?

Oxygen concentrators are regulated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and a prescription from a physician must be issued to receive oxygen therapy. Your physician will order a blood test to determine what your oxygen level is. The prescription will indicate the flow rate of how much oxygen you need per minute (liters per minute or LPM) and when you need to use oxygen. You or your doctor can fax your prescription to our customer service department to help expedite the process.

Warranty: 3 year manufacturers warranty on the oxygen concentrator and a 90 day warranty on all EverGo accessories.

Return policy: Due to hygiene purposes, the Respironics EverGo Portable Oxygen Concentrator is non-returnable.

Please refer to ActiveForevers return policy for more detailed information.

I chose the EverGo mainly based on its battery life.  I have not been disappointed in my choice.  The EverGo is easy to learn to use, reasonably compact and easy to transport thanks to the lightweight cart.

Prior to purchasing the EverGo I rented both the Inogen and the Evergo.

Both concentrators use pulse technology hence would not be suitable for someone requiring continuous flow oxygen.  Also, keep in mind that the setting of 2 doesn't necessary equate to  2 liters continuous flow, that just means at that setting you'll receive a certain dose of oxygen (at a setting of 2 the Inogen delivers 15 ml and the EverGo delivers 23 ml).  The Inogen has settings from 1-5; the EverGo from 1-6.

The Inogen has two advantages over the EverGo. First, it is quieter (40dBa vs 47(units made before 4/08) or 43(units made after 4/08) dBa).  Second, it has a remote conserver unit so you can use the Inogen as a stationary concentrator when you are at "home" with up to 100 feet of tubing. In every other respect I think the EverGo has the advantage over the Inogen:

    * Battery life: At 20 breaths a minute, setting of 2 the Inogen lasts 3 hours; EverGo 8 hours (this is using two batteries.  If you want to lessen the weight by 1.5 pounds you can remove one battery and still have 4 hours).
    * Breath detection: Inogen didn't always detect my breath, I felt I had to remind myself to be more forceful in taking a breath; this was not a problem with the EverGo.
    * Maximum oxygen production: The EverGo gave me more oxygen than the Inogen when I had it at the highest setting .  EverGo delivers up to 1050 ml/min; Inogen delivers 750ml/min).
    * When I out-breathed the machines: Inogen would give pulses on alternating breaths (very disconcerting when you are SOB!); EverGo would alert you that you had max'd the machine out but you would get a pulse of oxygen on each breath albeit a smaller pulse than the setting normally would provide.
    * Cart: I liked the way the EverGo attaches to the cart better, more secure.
    * Elevation: the EverGo is rated to 8,000 feet.  I'm not sure what the Inogen is rated for.

Overall I felt my oxygen need was fulfilled much better with the EverGo than with the Inogen.

My recent purchase of a Respironics EverGo portable O2 concentrator has provided me with a huge increase in my quality of life. With the four batteries I have, the unit weighs about 17 pounds, but I am able to leave home for over 17 hours (at my flow rate of between 2 and 3)---imagine doing that hauling around O2 bottles! The small lightweight cart that the unit comes with is a breeze to pull--unlike my O2 bottle cart. If for any reason I can't use the cart, I usually remove the extra batteries from the case, and just carry the normal unit, saving me about seven pounds. In short: I've broken the bottle habit and will never go back!
