1. Tub size - Customers should always make sure they have the measurements of the length, width and height of the bath tub to ensure that the product will fit in the bathtub. Most lifts will fit within a standard size tub (29" x 48"), but there are extensions on some available to accommodate whirlpool style tubs as well. You should always make sure that the lift you are considering will fit within the dimensions of your tub.
2. Seat Size - The size of the seat on the bath lift should be considered when purchasing the lift for several reasons. Customers should always determine the extent of their mobility prior to buying a lift. The size of the seat itself may not be enough to allow you to get out of the tub comfortably. Some lifts provide wings or flaps on either side of the seat, creating a transfer surface, allowing you more room to maneuver yourself over the top of the tub wall. Others offer an additional rotary seat that not only aids in moving you sideways past the top of the wall, but also allows for rotation of your body in order to move out of the unit itself.
3. Lift Range - This factor is critical to decide on the height at which the unit will sit above the tub or how low into the water it will take you. This will help you determine if the lift will take you over the bathtub wall or if you would need to find another one that will.
4. Attachment - Each of our lifts has a suction cup attachment that will keep the lift from moving around inside the tub. As an informed customer, you want to make sure that you find out whether the suction cups are compatible with the surface on the inside of your tub. Some suction cup mechanisms will not stick to textured surfaces, allowing for the unit to move within the tub. You must consider this before purchasing to ensure the safe use of the lift in your own home.
5. Lifts per Battery charge - Fortunately for our customers, Active Forever carries units that are battery charged, no more cords near the tub! This is a matter of preference and convenience dependent upon the customer. Each lift has a lithium ion battery that will power the lift at full speed and capability until it is fully drained and incapable of completing a successful lift. With this in mind, the customer will need to make sure to charge the unit's battery after it has expired.
