The Drive Med Aire 8 Inch Alternating Pressure Mattress Replacement System keeps your loved one receiving care at home or in a hospital comfortable while preventing and treating bed sores. The 14029 mattress series is classified as a grade A mattress to fit on top of a hospital bed. The series will support a weight capacity up to 450 pounds. When the user is immobile or bed ridden, having alternating pressure is critical to reduce pressure that causes Stage I to Stage IV pressure ulcer injuries from prolonged pressure. Bony prominences such as hips and shoulders are susceptible to pressure sores as patient lies down for extended time and therefore the alternating pressure mattress system works to prevent that from happening.
The 14029 alternating pressure mattress is comprised of 20 individual air cell bladders that are 8-inch in diameter. The top air cells are static to offer a pillow and keeps alternating air at the head to not disturb patient during sleep. The mattress works with a high-volume pump to quickly fill up the bladders with air. The tubing connector features EZ Lock and Quick Release to quickly fill up air cells or quickly disconnect the system. The pump is relatively quiet to not disturb the patient and is connected to a 10-foot cord that hooks onto a footboard or headboard. The power pump can be used for either static or alternating pressure. When in alternating pressure mode, the air bladders inflates and deflates air alternating the bladders every 10, 15, 20 or 25 minutes to gently lift patient and relieve pressure. The cycle automatically repeats so not one area of the body undergoes pressure for a long period of time. The air pressure can be customized to the firmness desired by the patient and ranges from 20 to 60 mmHg.
For added patient comfort, the middle air bladders are designed with laser cuts for a low air loss function to keep patient cool. The cell design also prevents the patient from bottoming out. Should pressure ever fall below 10 mmHg, the mattress will alert the caregiver with visual LED lights and audible alarm. The CPR valve allows for rapid deflation when needed.
The mattress has a water resistant and vapor permeable 4-way stretch cover with low shear to protect fragile skin against friction and moisture. The cover is zippered for easy removable for laundering. The Med Air Plus Mattress with pump comes with a 18 month limited warranty. Individual replacement air bladders are easily removed for servicing.
The 10429-DP model offers a 10-inch-tall firm static perimeter that surrounds the mattress for added safety by adding additional surface area to prevent patient from falling.
