The KN95 Face Mask is a multilayer mask that filters out 95% of all particles larger than 0.3 µm in diameter. That includes bacteria and viruses, as well as fine particles and droplets. The KN95 has approval from the FDA for protection against particles. They are similar to N95 respirators (the US standard) in the protection they provide.
How the KN95 Mask Works
The KN95 works by employing three layers of barrier material. Sandwiched between a nonwoven fiber outer layer and a layer of hot air cotton is a meltblown filter layer. These masks have a metal strip placed above the nose that bends to create an airtight seal.
