Description
McKesson Dermal Wound Cleanser is a non-sterile, no-rinse solution meant to clean both acute and chronic wounds. This product is not meant as an antiseptic but rather a wash to remove dirt and debris from the wound bed without causing trauma. McKesson nonsterile wound cleanser is safe for living cells and comes in several sizes and application methods. This cleanser is meant as a prewash before applying a dressing like ConvaTec Wound Dressing.
Cytotoxicity and Wound Care
Cytotoxicity refers to the death of cells caused by exposure to a compound. Cytotoxic compounds are commonly used in medicine for cancer treatments. These compounds cause cellular death in several ways: preventing cellular division, activating apoptosis, or necrosis through cell Lysis. In wound care, cell death can be caused by necrosis through cytolysis. Cytolysis is primarily caused in wound cleansing when wounds are washed with a compound that causes cells to rapidly swell and burst. McKesson dermal wound cleanser is specifically designed to prevent this.
