Toxic Mold can make you seriously ill or even worse. (See All HEPA Air Purifiers)
What is Toxic Mold?
Toxic mold is a type of mold that creates hazardous byproducts, called mycotoxins. Although individuals with asthma and other respiratory complications may have reactions to several types of mold, it's believed that mycotoxins are more likely to generate health problems in even healthy individuals. These toxins are believed to be connected to memory loss and to severe lung problems in infants and the elderly. Buying the proper air purifier will clean the air and remove dangerous toxic mold spores.
Mystery Illness Sickens Family
One of the leading causes of mystery home illness comes from Stachybotrys which is a genus of molds. The genus has a widespread distribution, and contains about 50 species. The most publicized specie is Stachybotrys Chartarum also known as "black mold" or "toxic black mold. These toxic molds are regularly associated with poor indoor air quality that arises after fungal growth on water-damaged building materials.
Toxic Mold Makes World Wide Headlines
Mold sickness and associated illnesses from mold exposure are factual. New studies prove beyond a shadow of a doubt, sickness and disease from mold exposure and exposure to mold and mold spores are very real. The deadly effects of toxic molds on the body even make headline news as in " Mold in your home can kill; as actress Brittany Murphy's death linked to fungus in LA mansion"
Mold spore inhalation has now been linked to Asthma, Fribromyalgia, depression, Invasive pulmonary aspergillosis (IPA) which remains a major cause of mortality in diabetics, infants, the elderly, people undergoing cancer treatment, people suffering with ARC, AIDS, the immuno-compromised and organ transplant recipients.
Infant Health: A good Reason for Using an Air Purification System that uses a HEPA Filter
Mold exposure has also become suspect as a cause of "SIDS", Sudden Infant Death Syndrome and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Aspergillus fungi have been documented to colonize previously damaged lung tissue and commonly colonize the airways of patients with cystic fibrosis, emphysema, asthma, smokers and healthy lungs.
Professor Roy Watling, an authority on fungi and formerly head of mycology at the Royal Botanic Garden, Edinburgh, says: 'Normally the immune system detects the spores and helps you to get rid of them by coughing or sneezing. ‘But some people with poorer immune systems are unable to reject the spores, and so they germinate in their lung tissue, causing inflammation. ‘Those most at risk of health problems caused by household moulds are children and babies, the elderly and those in poor health. What Experts Say About the Danger of Toxic Modes
In 2004 the Institute of Medicine (IOM) found there was sufficient evidence to link indoor exposure to mold with upper respiratory tract symptoms, cough, and wheeze in otherwise healthy people; with asthma symptoms in people with asthma; and with hypersensitivity pneumonitis in individuals susceptible to that immune-mediated condition. The IOM also found limited or suggestive evidence linking indoor mold exposure and respiratory illness in otherwise healthy children.
