The ResQup™ is an innovative fall recovery device. It allows you to get up from the floor after a fall or get down to the floor.
The ResQUp™ is particularly useful in situations where an individual does not have the volitional strength or abilities to get up from the floor independently. The uniquely designed and engineered ResQUp™ created by Dr. Peraza utilizes an incremental, ergonomically, and physiologically integrated system comprised of 4½ inch horizontal levels (3 levels at 4 1/2, 9, & 13 1/2 inches from floor level) that can be easily retrieved and placed into position while the patient is on the floor.
The purpose of the ResQUp™ is to make it easier for an individual to negotiate their way up to a chair height (generally ~18 inches) by one of two methods; 1) pushing themselves up using their hands, or 2) pushing themselves up using their elbows with minimal or no additional assistance from a caregiver.
At Home Use:
Individuals who utilize the ResQUp to help fallen individuals up from the floor dramatically reduce the risk of injury to themselves as a result of physically lifting or handling fallen individuals. No Lifting = No Injury to those assisting Fallen Individual
Senior's who fall frequently has self esteem and independent living issues. Getting up using the ResQUp is more favorable than being hoisted, lifted passively, or assisted by EMS.
The mobility, confidence, and dignity of those prone to falling will improve
Statistics Regarding Seniors
- One third of seniors over the age of 65 will fall each year (CDC)
- Over 70% of these falls will not result in injury
- More than 40% of community living elders who experience a non-injurious falls are unable to rise from the floor without assistance
- The frequency of falls continues to rise with each passing decade of a senior's life
There is NO SAFE WAY to lift a fallen individual. The National Institute for Occupational Safety Health (NIOSH) has determined that the maximum safe lifting limit is 35 lbs under ideal conditions. Lifting with proper body mechanics will NOT protect an individual.
