The alarm will sound when the individual raises from he chair and automatically resets when they sit back down. It has an easy-to-see LED light that flashes when the sensor is functioning properly. If the light is not flashing, check the battery to confirm if it requires replacement. The alarm signal comes with a high/low option in order to match the volume-comfort level of each individual.
