The Drive Med Aire Plus 8 Inch Bariatric Alternating Pressure Mattress System keeps your loved one receiving care at home or in a hospital comfortable while preventing and treating bed sores. When the user is immobile or bed ridden, having alternating pressure is critical to reduce pressure that causes Stage I to Stage IV pressure ulcer injuries from prolonged pressure. Bony prominences are susceptible to pressure sores and therefore the hips and shoulders are common regions with greatest risk.

The mattress is comprised of 20 individual air cell bladders that are 8-inch in diameter. The mattress works with a high-volume pump to fill up the bladders with air. The pump has a 10-foot cord and can hook onto a foot board or head board. The pump is relatively quiet to not disturb the patient. The power pump can be used for either static or alternating pressure. When in alternating pressure mode, the air bladders inflates and deflates air alternating the bladders every 10, 15, 20 or 25 minutes to gently lift patient and relieve pressure. The cycle automatically repeats so not one area of the body undergoes pressure for a long period of time.

The air pressure can be customized to the firmness desired by the patient and ranges from 30 to 60 mmHg. The middle air bladders are designed with laser cuts for a low air loss function to keep patient cool and comfortable. The cell design prevents the patient from bottoming out. Should pressure ever fall below 10 mmHg, the mattress will alert the caregiver with visual LED lights and audible alarm. The CPR valve allows for rapid deflation when needed.

The mattress has a water resistant and vapor permeable cover with low shear to protect fragile skin against friction and moisture. The cover is zippered for easy removable for laundering. The Med Air Plus Bariatric Mattress with pump comes with a 1-year warranty. Individual replacement air bladders are easily removed for servicing.
